We are Royal Voluntary Service and we run a free home library delivery service.
We delivery library material every 4 weeks directly to the readers’ door. We have a full range of library material, ordinary print, large print books, audio books, MP3 books, dementia friendly books and puzzles. We also have full access to the Children’s library and Teen section.
We can make reading possible for everyone in the Kirklees community who cannot access their own local library.
This includes people who may be housebound, living in long term care, carers, or people who are vulnerable due to long term conditions or disabilities. The service is open to people of all ages. You may want to use the service all the time or for a short period, such as only in winter or when recovering from an illness or operation.
Our dedicated volunteers also offer a regular friendly face, chat, and wellbeing check for anyone who may need it. All the delivery volunteers have been checked by the disclosure and barring service.
At Royal Voluntary Service we are dedicated to supporting vulnerable and isolated members of our community. Our service is already a much-needed relief to hundreds of people in Kirklees and we hope to be able to support more.
