National Lockdown Support Grant

For businesses forced to close due to national restrictions between 5 November and 2 December 2020

Business premises forced to close in England from 5th November as part of the national lockdown measures will receive grants worth up to £3,000 per 28 days under the Local Restrictions Support Grant (closed) scheme.

Eligibility

To be eligible, your business must:

  • be in Kirklees
  • have been registered as the occupier for Business Rates on 4th November 2020
  • have been open and trading as usual before the restrictions
  • have been providing services in person to customers from the premises
  • be required to close under the government’s national lockdown restrictions

Businesses required to close, or remain closed

  • All non-essential retail
  • Hospitality venues
  • Accommodation
  • Indoor and outdoor leisure facilities
  • Entertainment venues
  • Personal care facilities
  • Community centres and halls – unless exempt
  • Places of worship, apart from for the purposes of independent prayer, and service broadcasting and funerals
  • Nightclubs
  • Sexual entertainment venues and hostess bars.

Businesses which will be eligible for the following grant

  • Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local Business Rates rating list with a rateable value of exactly £15,000 or under on 5 November 2020 will receive a payment of £1,334 per 28-day qualifying restriction period
  • Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local Business Rates rating list with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 on 5 November 2020 will receive a payment of £2,000 per 28-day qualifying restriction period
  • Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local Business Rates rating list with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 or above on 5 November 2020 will receive £3,000 per 28-day qualifying restriction period
  • Businesses who appear on the rating list and who have been forced to remain closed under national restrictions since March 2020 will receive an additional payment to cover the period 1st November 2020 to 4th November. This includes:
    • Nightclubs, dance halls and discotheques
    • Sexual entertainment venues and hostess bars

 

Tier 2 Local Restrictions Support Grant

For businesses who were significantly impacted by Tier 2 local restrictions between 5th August 2020 and 4th November 2020

Leisure, hospitality or accommodation businesses that were not legally required to close but that have been severely impacted by the restrictions under Tier 2 will receive a grant of up to £2,100 per 28 days under the Local Restrictions Support Grant (open) scheme.

Eligibility

To be eligible, your business must:

  • be in Kirklees
  • be a leisure, hospitality or accommodation business
  • occupy premises registered for businesses rates (businesses that do not pay rates directly to Kirklees Council, for instance businesses in shared workspace or bed &breakfasts who pay Council Tax rather than Business Rates are eligible to apply but will be required to supply additional evidence of occupation, for instance a rental agreement or invoice)
  • have been open and trading as usual before the restrictions
  • have been providing services in person to customers from the premises
  • have been severely impacted by Tier 2 restrictions

Eligible businesses include

  • Hospitality venues – cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars and social clubs
  • Accommodation businesses – hotels, hostels, guest houses and campsites
  • Leisure and sports facilities – including sports facilities, leisure centres and gyms, swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, golf courses, fitness and dance studios, climbing walls, archery, driving, and shooting range.

Businesses which will be eligible for the following grant

  • Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local Business Rates rating list with a rateable value of exactly £15,000 or under on 5th August 2020 will receive a grant of up to £934 per 28-day period
  • Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local Business Rates rating list with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 on 5th August 2020 will receive a grant of up to £1,400 per 28-day period
  • Businesses occupying premises appearing on the local Business Rates rating list with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 or above on the date of the commencement of the local restrictions will receive a grant of up to £2,100 per 28-day period.

 

Kirklees Discretionary Support Grant Scheme

The council has also been given funding to develop a discretionary grant scheme to help those businesses which – while not legally forced to close from 5th November – are nonetheless severely impacted by the restrictions put in place to control the spread of COVID-19.
