Upper Dearne Woodlands Conservation Group

Upper Dearne Woods is a group of volunteers who look after the woods which surround the River Dearne above Denby Dale and below Barnsley Road (A635) opposite the road which leads to the waste recycling tip.

It is an area of very attractive mixed woodlands with a range of wildlife and historical remains.

The woods are open to all at any time , but there no car park, most people walking down from the nearest roads.

We come a couple of times a month, usually on a Sunday morning to do jobs from tree planting, path or stream management, or trimming the undergrowth.

We’re usually there for a couple of hours , usually spending time chatting and drinking coffee as well as working.

There are jobs for everyone and we welcome anyone who’d like to join us.

We post the dates and activities on the website and all are welcome.

We also have meetings at 7:30 at Birds Edge Methodist church hall on the second Tuesday each month.

Please join us, or say hello in the woods when you see us.
