What is Works Better?
Works Better is an ‘into-work’ programme that helps people who want to get into work overcome the barriers that are stopping them.
We recognise that a ‘one size fits all’ approach doesn’t provide the flexibility needed to meet the needs of all residents so a tailored package of support is developed for all participants whatever their barriers to work.
Support can be accessed for any amount of time and will be provided at the right pace for each participant. However we envisage that most participants will receive 6 months support as a minimum depending on the complexity of their needs.
Who can be supported?
Works Better can support all Kirklees Residents who are aged 15 or older and are out of work.
What types of support are available?
A wide variety of support is available to address a range of barriers which stop people getting work.
This could be:
One to One Mentoring which can include things such as;
- Advocacy and coaching
- Confidence building
- Career advice
- CV development
- Benefit advice
- Job search support
- Interview prep
- Support with accessing specialist help
We have multiple Training Courses that cover things such as;
- Digital Skills
- Creativity workshops
- Communication skills
- Problem solving
- Team building
- Workplace knowledge
Once people feel work ready we support them in;
- Arranging work experience opportunities
- Job matching to suitable vacancies
