Discover the vital role that trees played in story of coal mining, from the formation of coal to the pit props that supported the roadways.

This free walk and talk explores the mining industry’s close relationships with nature and trees. Learn about how different trees were used within the industry for their unique properties. Discover how we can all play our part in saving trees and how in turn nature can enhance our own wellbeing.

This guided walk will be led by Woodland Trust speaker, Roger Parkinson.

Families welcome, suitable for ages 7+
Limited places – book online or call Reception on 01924 848806

Suitable footwear and clothing should be worn. This is an outdoor walk and there may be uneven paths. Parents are responsible for the safety of their children on the walk.

Please arrive at Reception 5 minutes before start time.
